Welcome to "The Last Bartlett" website
Hello, my name is Jeremy Bartlett, although this photograph of me is not a recent one. I am happily married to Vanna, a self-employed artist.
When my parents died I inherited lots of family photographs. I thought it would be a shame to leave them in boxes where they couldn't be seen, so I decided to display them and tell the world at large a little about my branch of the Bartlett family.
I hope the information will be useful to someone researching family history. If it is, please get in touch.
This website is called "The Last Bartlett" because, as an only child with no children, I'm the last of my particular branch of the Bartlett family. There are, of course, many other Bartlett families out there and I do have many relatives, albeit distant ones.
I do hope you enjoy meeting my ancestors.
Alongside my Bartlett relatives you will find my ancestors with the surnames Allen, Attwooll, Bland, Brown, Clarke, Comben, Cooper, Coy, Dosser / Dossor, Edis, Grantham, Griffiths, Hackett, Hutchins, Jones, Lawton, Rendell, Serjeant, Southwell, Taverner, Thomas, White, Willby and Williams.

I couldn't have done this without...
- My cousin Iolo Wyn Griffiths' research into the Griffiths and Thomas families.
- My second cousin once removed, Mark Henry, who was researching his family history and discovered me through this website. He has supplied lots of fascinating information on the Clarke, Serjeant and Bland families.
- Mary, my mother, Emma, my grandmother, and my cousin Irene Bartlett, who provided old photographs and various bits of information.
- Alison Pierce for additional information on the Attwooll family.
- Paul Jeffs for information on Jane Jeffs (née Serjeant) and her family.
- Trevor Jeffs for photographs of Jane Jeffs (née Serjeant).
- Other distant relatives who have contacted me with additional information. Thanks, you know who you are.
- Dr. David Shorney, whose article "The Makings of a Bible Christian Itinerant, James Bartlett, 1816-1881" provided fascinating information on Reverend James Bartlett.
- The CD "The Island and Royal Manor of Portland - Historic Sources", which has lots of information on Portland families, including many of my Attwooll relatives. The CD can be purchased from Parish Chest Ltd, Credvill, Quakers Road, Perranwell Station, Truro, TR3 7PJ. Go to the Parish Chest Shop to buy this CD (£15 with free postage).
- And finally my friend Steve, who has spent many hours researching my family tree and gave me the birth and marriage certificates and 1881 census information. Steve is currently in the process of documenting Norfolk baptisms on his excellent and much cited Tinstaafl Transcripts website.
